Italia manager Gianluigi Buffon has revealed he has spoken to his former captain, Cristiano Ronaldo, about joining the New York Cosmos.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster RAI, Buffon said the former Portugal and Real Madrid star is keen to move to the US, where he will play for the Cosmos.
“I spoke to Cristiano yesterday and he is happy with what we are doing here.
He has already signed his contract and I told him that I am very happy,” Buffon told RAI.”
He wants to play here.
We are talking with him about it and I hope he will be here in New York.”
There is a great opportunity here.
I spoke with him yesterday and there is nothing to talk about.
I hope Cristiano will join us soon.
I am confident in the team.
“In a move that could be a shock to the Cosmos and its fans, Buffont also revealed the former Real Madrid player would like to leave Portugal to join the Cosmos in New Jersey.”
We are talking about it.
We have a very good relationship. “
We are not looking for him to leave.
We have a very good relationship.
We love him.”
The Cosmos have been without their captain since he was ruled out with a calf injury in December.
